Book Launch on African Culture, Onomo Hotel

https://youtu.be/WvHJPe3WQfU The book discusses the hidden realities of African history, which have been written and hidden by ancestors in tomes, sculptures, and carvings. Some of this history is found in Western museums, while others are still hidden beneath the earth. The book also mentions how the history of Africa has been distorted by enslavers and colonizers, who exported proofs of African history to keep in their museums. The mention of the Sphinx is used as an example of how African history remains hidden in carvings and sculptures, waiting to be interpreted.

SAMSEA UK March Meeting

The UK SAMSEA Branch recently came together just before Holy Week 2024, with Maurice Paul and his family graciously hosting the gathering in Leicester. The session radiated with camaraderie, unity, and mutual support, bringing together approximately 10 guests and 11 members, alongside their families. A highlight of the evening was the warm reception extended to Lang Prosper, who had recently arrived in the UK. Langwa expressed an immediate sense of belonging, acknowledging the inclusive and relaxed atmosphere, where the focus on enjoyment and celebration permeated throughout. Fr. Rigo set a reverent tone with the opening prayer, while Franki, our MC and Animator, adeptly guided the proceedings, ensuring an animated and engaging atmosphere. The room was abuzz with activity as guests eagerly participated, spurred on by spontaneous impulses to join in. This gathering served as a prelude to the upcoming Holy Week festivities, emphasizing the importance of gathering in fellowship and celebration. A key takeaway was the recognition of the commitment and support extended to newcomers or those facing challenges in attending meetings or transitioning into daily routines. To address this, a buddy initiative was introduced, pairing members to offer mutual support and enhance communication with President Fomo. In a special gesture of appreciation, Irene, though not directly affiliated with SAMSEA/SAMS, was honored as an honorary member for her consistent attendance and contributions. President Fomo expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, leading by example as he took charge of the dance group for the night, fostering an atmosphere of joy and unity. This gathering underscored the resilience and solidarity within the UK SAMSEA Branch, reaffirming our dedication to supporting one another and celebrating our shared bonds. Looking ahead, our next Face-to-Face meeting is scheduled for May, hosted by Fr. Rigo in Oxford. Following that, we’re excited to announce a trip to Scandinavia (Sweden) in July, hosted by Paul Berinyuy (Pufg Puff), with a special invitation extended to all SAMS Ex-students in the Scandinavia region.

Bamenda Retreat
SAMSEA BAMENDA

Had their Recollection and Holy Mass today at the Cathedral in Big Mankon. Theme: FINDING GOD IN CHAOS Readings taken from: Genesis 3: 9-10. Questions to reflect on * WHERE ARE YOU? * WHERE IS YOUR BROTHER? * WHERE IS YOUR CROSS?     In the midst of chaos, we often find ourselves searching for answers and seeking solace. But it is in these moments of uncertainty and confusion that we can also find a deeper connection with God. When everything around us seems to be falling apart, we can turn to our faith and find comfort in knowing that God is always with us. In the chaos, God is the calm in the storm, the guiding light that leads us through the darkness. He is the source of strength and peace that we can rely on when everything else feels overwhelming. It is during these times that we can truly experience the power of prayer and the presence of God in our lives. When chaos surrounds us, it is easy to lose sight of our faith and become consumed by fear and anxiety. But it is precisely in these moments that we need to lean on God the most. Through prayer, we can find solace, guidance, and renewed hope. We can surrender our worries and burdens to Him, trusting that He will provide for us and lead us through the chaos. Finding God in chaos is not about escaping from the reality of the situation, but rather about finding a deeper meaning and purpose in the midst of it all. It is about recognizing that God is present even in the most chaotic moments of our lives, working behind the scenes to bring about His good and perfect will. So, in the midst of chaos, let us not lose hope. Let us turn to God, seek His guidance, and trust in His plan. Let us find comfort in knowing that even in the chaos, we can find God and experience His peace, love, and grace.

Story
AGM Baffoussam 2022

Together with Menang Etienne, we arrived well. I will say the AGM was quite amazing, and a bit out of its usual routine. A lot of new activities to breeze every up and canalize our thoughts and ideas towards the realization of a one big and productive SAMSEA where everyone feels belonging and has a say in the construction of a dream SAMSEA. The blend of the old and the very young without notice of any difference should be recommended. The shortcomings were in the planning of the event and logistics ( with regard to food provision by that department). It was a fun-filled event and I can go without nothing that our brothers from Yaounde were not fully represented as a branch though a few individuals participated. These are a few things I can point out. A big thanks to president Chiy and His executive as well as Italia for hosting us in Baffoussam. merci, gracias.

Fr Watson’s Birthday

Dear All, on January 31st 2023, our beloved fr Peter Watson will be 90. A milestone, as we all know. Please, God he will still be alive. Perhaps as his children and ex students and all whom he taught and touched, especially those living in the uk, it is worth considering and planning a little (surprise or no surprise) visit to see him even for an hour or two; or to put together a souvenir of any kind to send to him in Liverpool. Just a thought. God bless all missionaries who brought us the faith and inspired us in one way or another. Are we as Ex students of Fr Peter Waston able to show our appreciation? We will organize the Uk to represent SAMS and it’s extended community Just a thought. God bless all missionaries who brought us the faith and inspired us in one way or another. Are we as Ex students of Fr Peter Waston able to show our appreciation? We will organize the Uk to represent SAMS and it’s extended community in January. A date to be confirmed
